Anger...rage...hate...it’s all Raiden felt as he scrolled through the headlines that were reporting on King’s Road Puroresu’s second show. The gauntlet match he had been in was a tedious task, and he was lucky to have survived until the final bout, but in the end, he felt jaded by the final result as he found himself having to seek medical attention afterwards in order to tend to his eye which even he thought was bleeding at first due to how much Ford had dug his thumb in. Nonetheless, he ended up wearing a patch over it, only having one good eye to stare at the screen with.
“Gaijin Hero defeats Bone Cold! Ford Endures the Winds of Catastrophe! Ishimori Falls to Ford in B Block Final…”
He felt an urge to punch the screen right in front of him, but he only balled up a fist and tightly clenched to the point where his knuckles turned white with the pressure he was exerting. Out of frustration, he slams the laptop close before leaning back in his seat, running his hands over his face as he lets out frustrated breaths.
“So close...I was so close to punching my ticket to the main event of Gold & Glory: Stage 2...but then Ford had to go cheat his way to victory.”
He leaves his left hand over his patched eye as he returns his other hand to his lap, letting out another disappointed sigh as he sits up straight.
“It’s never easy to take a loss like that. You get so many emotions welling up in you. Sadness...anger...hate...despair...it just goes on and on until it all those feelings just get lost in the days that pass as you look forward. God knows I’ve had to go through that trip before, but it took about half a year to get over given the circumstances around that story.”
He shakes his head, resting his other back in his lap, fully exposing the white patch over his eye while he turned his attention down to the floor.
“Rough times like this do make me question a lot of things. What went wrong? What could have I done to ensure this kind of ending didn’t happen? Etcetera, etcetera. In the end, I guess it is no matter really, Just have to re-watch the tape a few times and come up with a new strategy from there. While I should be happy that it’s only my Dojo mates battling it out for the belt, but I still can’t deny the feeling that I should be the one facing Isaiah.”
He sighs.
“No matter now. I got another challenge to deal with in the form of another Dojo mate in the form of Kawada-san.”
Raiden pushes himself up from his seat, his arms retreating to his backside as he begins to pace around, his head tilted more up as if he’s looking at the ceiling.
“The man formerly known as Ultraman Neos, The Absolute Justice as some might call him...is nothing but a thing of the past I’m afraid. Kawada-san, we’re reaching the end of the 2010s era, but yet, it still seems like you’re clinging onto your past from days of old. Yes, you seem to have just about done everything you can here in our native Japan, but sometimes it is best to just call it. No hate or disrespect, but I’m not really sure how to put it.”
He pauses in his tracks, rubbing at his chin for a second before continuing on with his slow walk.
“See, I understand you still want to show that some from the past generation still have it within in them. Don’t get me wrong, you certainly seem to still have it such as the time when you beat young Marco. An impressive display for a forty-year-old man, but the question is this: How much longer can you keep up with young upstarts? That is the real test to a veteran’s mettle. Are they able to match the in-ring skill of the next generation? Do they still have the quote on quote, touch? A thing like that is easier said than done in most cases, but who knows, I could be wrong.”
Raiden shrugs at the camera as he brings his arms around so they’re clasped together at the wrist in front of him.
“I say that, yet, the signs that your age may be catching up to started showing this past show at Gold & Glory. The gauntlet match that transpired...heh, as fresh as you were going into that match, you couldn’t repeat your previous success that you had last time out. You went for tactics that people probably now have figured out by this point as you tried the very same ones in that short time you were involved in that sequence.”
He lifts a hand up to his head, tapping at his temple with his index finger.
“Lord knows I have them figured out after watching the tapes. I’m sorry to say, and I apologize for the rant, but your time left in the wrestling world is very limited now Kawada-san. You’re up against another young one, and that happens to be me. Osaka no Kodokuna Okami...Bone Cold…”
He chuckles at the statement.
“I will not let that upsetting defeat drag me down more than it needs to. There will always be second chances, but it’s all about pushing forward from here out. I hope not to be disappointed in this upcoming match and I will try my hardest not to disappoint the fans either by giving them a good showing. How does that sound to you...Kawada-san? Heh, here’s to more fun and adventures in the coming weeks. Bone Cold won’t be denied anymore!”
Raiden begins to chuckle to himself more as he walks out of the frame, only leaving the empty room behind as the shot fades to black.
