The Yugen open-air cafe inside the Bourou Noguchi Hakodate Ryokan has been set up as the site for a press conference for Hammerstein, one of King’s Road Puroresu’s hottest stars. Members of the Puroresu press corp are gathered as Hammerstein's manager, Reese Kennedy, steps to the podium, a smile on his face.
REESE KENNEDY: Good afternoon. I would like to extend my humble gratitude to The Bourou Noguchi Hakodate Ryokan for their hospitality and their willingness to set up this press event. My client and I have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Hakodate. One of my best memories will always be the hike that my client and I took on Mount Hakodate. The views are absolutely exquisite...utterly breathtaking. And what can I say about the hot springs? Any muscle tension built up on the hike melted away. It was truly a near spiritual experience. My client spent over two hours at the Koryuji Buddhist temple. Despite his in-ring demeanor, my client is both an introspective and pragmatic man, and his meditation time is very important to him. I, on the other hand, have no such proclivities, so I went to enjoy some of the area's amazing seafood.
This comment draws a few laughs from the reporters.
REESE KENNEDY: But, obviously, we're not here on vacation. This is a business excursion, and this is King's Road Puroresu business, to be specific. Glory and Gold Stage One is a unique opportunity for my client to not only bring glory to himself and The Sakaguchi Camp, but you also put him in line to bring gold to both himself and The Sakaguchi Camp by winning the GCS World Heavyweight Championship.
But you didn't come here to hear me, so I humbly turn the floor over to my client, The Lion of The Sakaguchi Camp, The American Monster, HAMMERSTEIN!
Hammerstein steps up to the podium, dressed in a black tailored suit, black shirt, and crimson red tie.
HAMMERSTEIN: first off I will not be answering questions, so don't ask any. I will make this statement. On June 24th at The Hakodate Arena, five men and women are going to have the chance to make their claim to being the best in King’s Road Puroresu . All they gotta do is beat me.
And that's where their problems start.
The one in block a, or Hell, block me either, have a chance in hell of beating me. I don't care if you are Judoka, a Muay Thai Fighter, and MMA fighter, Luchador or a straight wrestler. When you step in the ring with The American Monster, all of that means absolutely nothin. Hopes of victory go out the window, replaced by a desperate hope of survival.
Marco Street, I heard you say that I can't hang. Let me tell you this kid. I used to run around calling everybody else dude and bro and the same bullshit that you're doin. You know what acting like an idiot like that got me? The same thing it's going to get you... a goddamn fist in the mouth and your ass kicked. Smarten up, kid. You're in a fightin company, not some sports entertainment troupe. Drop the bullshit, and put up your fists.
And as far as can't hang? Lemme tell ya kid, all the stamina and all that cardio in the world wont mean shit when I drop you on that empty head of yours with the Hammersteiner... Dude.
As for the rest of you in this gauntlet. It doesn't matter where I'm at in this thing, but I hope I'm first. Cuz I'm here to rip through the field and establish my dominance over the rest of you and show that the Sakaguchi Camp is the (holds up his index finger) number one camp in King’s Road Puroresu. And that's exactly what I'm going to do.
When this is all over, I will stand, head and shoulders, Above the Rest, the GCS Heavyweight title around my waist and the Sakaguchi Camp on my shoulders.
That's it. I'm done. C’mon, Reese.
Reporters try to ask Hammerstein questions, but he ignores them as he and his manager walk out.
