The shot opens up to a dimly lit room, where there appear to be no light sources anywhere until a small flame appears, lighting a candle in front of it. Moving from left to right, the flame lights four more candles before it the flame itself is blown out.
“Come in, come in.”
The camera slowly approaches the group of candles, lowering itself as the cameraman sits down before them. In one of the more lighted areas, Raiden appears in the shot dressed only in a pair of sweatpants as he sits cross-legged behind the candles. A sly grin crosses his lips as he rests his arms in his lap.
“King’s Road Puroresu...what a spectacle that was to watch for a debut show and now I have the chance to make a splash in the company...in a gauntlet match no less.”
He lets out a faint chuckle.
“One hell of an incentive it has though. A chance to fight for the world heavyweight title at the next show should someone one? Now that’s something worth fighting for.”
He strokes his chin out of curiosity.
“I wonder though...did anyone see this coming? Probably not, right? I don’t think anyone was expecting us to get thrown into two separate matches with stakes so high. Regardless, let’s move on to what we’re here for.”
He draws his hand away from his face, the demeanor growing more serious as he stares back at the camera.
“In this match, I’m being pitted against five formidable opponents. Kira Izumi, Desmond Masters, Aiden Ford, King Carter, and Huey Blounts. An interesting lineup to face, but let’s face it, no matter how hard they punch, kick, scratch, claw...it isn’t going to guarantee them victory...and I’ll tell you why.”
He gestures towards the candle on the far left.
“Let’s start with Izumi-san. A weird fellow, isn’t he? Just another man shrouded in mystery, but if there’s one thing that we do know about is the fact that he’s a married man. He’s married to a woman that he’s willing to lay everything down for in order to provide for her and their children, or future children, whatever the case, he’s just another man that’s in that category. Is it noble? Yes, but Kira, I’ve heard so many stories about men like yourself and I’m sorry to say...bu June 24th is going to be a disappointing night for you and your wife. We may be dojo mates, but come Sunday, that won’t mean anything. Sorry.”
Raiden tightly presses on the lit candle with his forefinger and thumb, easily extinguishing the flame.
“Next, we have the young Desmond. Another youth, like many others, is mainly looking to establish himself in the business. Let me tell you something kid: I’ve got the same goal in mind, but the difference between us is that you’re part of a dojo that favors cowardice over bravery. You look like a good kid, but you’ve chosen a foolish king to lead you into battle...and that just gives me a good enough reason to feel the need to beat some sense into you.”
He extinguishes the second candle.
“Where are we now? Aiden Ford, correct? Another dojo mate under Takayama-san’s wing...and a tough one too. Color me impressed with that performance he had against Hammerstein. Shame it ended the way it did. I was actually quite enjoying the way it progressed, but alas, there was no winner...just how I plan to keep Ford. Winnerless. You say you can fight through the pain, but do you have the stamina to match it? Don’t disappoint me Aiden otherwise you’re just gonna look like an embarrassment to Takayama-san.”
The third candle is put out in the same fashion as the other two.
“Hmm...King Carter...oh how that name does not fit at all. Let’s take a look at his achievements, actually, scratch that, he doesn’t have any to begin with. Ha! How can one call themselves them ‘King’ when there is no evidence to back the claim? Should add the word ‘Foolish’ in front of that name you got there Carter. You may have beaten my dojo mate Izumi-san, but that means nothing. In this match, you have three of Takayama’s best members participating in this bout. Hope you can shape up to the task, great King of the Fools.”
He angrily puts out the fourth candle. Grabbing a hold of the last candle, he holds it in front of himself at about chest level.
“And finally, we have Huey Blounts. The self-proclaimed ‘Damaja’ of this company. Pfft...please, that has to be a joke. You may have caused some harm to that Dolton Reed, but it’s only one match, Huey. You want to prove yourself more? Good luck beating me and everyone else in the gauntlet match we’re apart of. Oh, and by the way…”
Raiden unsettling leans forward toward the camera.
“You don’t scare me. You think you can just scare people just by looking at them? Let me tell you something Huey...I’ve seen bodies murdered in cold bold before I decided to start wrestling, and that...strikes fear into someone’s heart. If you want to scare me, try me. I’m willing to bet I could make you tap and cry for mom before you could even lay a finger on me.”
Raiden swiftly extinguishes the candle before setting it back down among the other four.
“...I think I’ve now made myself clear on what I think of the competition. I hope everyone knows that there is no escape, especially those under Sakaguchi. They may have escaped last time, but come Glory & Gold…”
He gets real up close to the camera to the point his entire face takes up the frame.
“...no one is escaping the Winds of Catastrophe…”
Raiden quietly dips out of the shot, leaving only the group of extinguished candles behind him as the shot slowly fades to black.
“Come in, come in.”
